Who We Are
Newstod is an independent explainer site for readers in the United States. We write plain-language guides that answer a specific question: when the Federal Reserve announces a decision, what a mortgage rate does to a monthly payment, and what a change at the gas pump costs a typical driver.
What We Publish
Standing pages stay up and get updated. News articles are revised in place when the facts change, instead of being copied into a second story on the same topic.
- Next Fed meeting — the 2026 calendar, with the statement at 2:00 p.m. Eastern and the press conference at 2:30 p.m.
- Mortgage rate impact and the full payment calculator.
- Gas cost calculator, using your miles and the price at your station.
- Interview guides, including how to answer “tell me about yourself.”
How We Check Facts
Factual claims are checked against public sources before publication. Federal Reserve dates come from the Board’s calendar. Mortgage examples are labeled as formula results, not a lender’s quote. Gas figures point to AAA and the Energy Information Administration. We link the original source, and we do not publish rumors as fact.
The full sourcing and corrections rules are in our Editorial Policy.
Who Writes
A small editorial team researches and edits what we publish. Pieces written as a team are credited to the Newstod Editorial Team. We do not invent author names.
Advertising
Newstod is supported by advertising, including Google AdSense when ads are running. Ads do not decide which topics we cover or how a story is written. Sponsored content, if we ever publish it, will be labeled as sponsored. Details on cookies and ad choices are in the Privacy Policy.
